Illness and Accidents in School
We will make every effort to contact you or a named carer, if your child falls ill during the school day. We are equipped to cope with minor accidents but should a serious accident occur the child may need to go to hospital. It is vital, therefore, that you give us telephone contact numbers and keep these updated.
In the event of contagious and infectious diseases the school must follow the Area Health regulations about when children are fit to return to school. The most common is sickness and diarrhoea, for which children should kept off school for 48 hours after last bout.
Head lice: These are a persistant problem in schools, but schools are not responsible for detecting, treating or excluding children who have head lice infections. Please regularly check your children for head lice and treat if necessary. Guidance is available via the link below.
We follow guidance from the Health Protection Agency’s “Control of communicable diseases in diseases in schools”. A copy is on display in the school foyer or please contact us for the most up to date version to be emailed to you.
